This is part 3 of “Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels”, if you need to start form the beginning please head to Series 1 of “Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels”
In the last step I was working on getting a bit more start up cash by selling a few limited supply recipes. Now that I have sold the recipes as per the instructions in the previous steps I now have 9 gold. It’s time to get started making some decent gold in WoW.
After I picked up the auction sales from the mail boxes, I headed to see Godan (53.38) in an attempt to learn Enchanting. I got there and realized that you need to be level 5 to learn enchanting. I had never paid attention to that before. So now I have to head back to the Valley of Trials and quest until I am level 5.
I used my hearthstone and return to the Valley of Trials. I opened up Joana’s Horde Leveling Mod that I had installed and followed the steps towards level 5. It only took me about half an hour. A small detour and a lesson learned. For those of you that are following in my footsteps to making gold in WoW, I suggest that you do this leveling part while you are waiting for your Recipe: Rage Potions to sell.
Once I was done leveling I headed back to Orgrimmar and met up with Godan again. This time I around I learned Enchanting. The only reason I need this skill is because of the disenchanting.
Now it was time to go the the Auction House to start some serious “City Gold Farming.”
When I got the auction house I did a search for Strange Dust to see what the average selling price was. If you have the Auction Add on installed this becomes really easy. The reason why we use Strange Dust as a baseline is because at this level the minimum mats a green item will disenchant to is 1 Strange Dust. The stacks of 20 were selling for 6 gold a piece which put the average price of a single strange dust at 30 silver. I then did a search for level 0-15 uncommon weapons and purchased every item that could be disenchanted that was 30 silver or less. I did the same thing with the armour. In the end I had spent over 7 gold on green items After buying up everything I went to the mail box to pick up my purchases.
It was time to disenchant.
It took me a few minutes to disenchant everything but in the end I had 26 Strange Dust, 14 Lesser Magic Essence and 5 Greater Magic Essence. I went back to the Auction House and did a price comparison on all of the auctions, and began listing. I priced the stack of 20 Strange Dust at 10 gold (the closest competitor was pricing stacks at 6 gold. That’s right, I priced over instead of undercutting), and the singles at 89 silver each. The Lesser Magic Essence at 5 gold for 10, and the singles at 1 gold. The Greater Magic Essences I price at a gold a piece as well.
I then logged out and began waiting for the sales.
If you are following my method to making gold in WoW then use the steps below to recreate my gold farming strategy:
1. Pick up your auctions from the mail box
2. Go level until you hit level 5 (if you need a leveling guide I suggest the Warcraft Formula as it covers leveling, gold making, PvP etc.)
3. Once at level 5 return to Orgrimar and see Godan (53.38) and learn enchanting.
4. Head to the Auction House and review the prices of Strange Dust to find the average selling price.
5. Set the search to level 0-15, uncommon items and search both weapons and armour and purchase as much as you can.
6. Go to the mailbox and pickup your items.
7. Disenchant everything.
8. Go back to the Auction House and list all of the mats you received from disenchanting. Try not to undercut the prices, as these items usually sell fast (especially on the weekends). If anything price over your competitors using my AH pricing strategy.
9. Wait a 24 hours for the auctions to sell
Once your auctions have sold continue on to part 4of the WoW gold farming series: Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels
