Today was a good day and a bad day for making Gold in WoW.  The good part was that I collected all of my sales from the mail and ended up having 35 gold.   Things are starting to look up.  The bad part was that there was not much to buy from the Auction House to disenchant.

I cleaned out what I could from the AH and then disenchanted the items.  The I headed back to the AH and found that a few more items had been listed, so I bought those, picked them up and then disenchanted them.  I repeated this process a few times as every time I headed aback to the AH there were a few more auctions.  It seemed to be the tough way to make gold in WoW.  It was much like farming at this point

After a few trips I noticed that my skill in enchanting, had risen to 50.  This meant that I could begin disenchanting items up to level 25.  The items from level 21-25 mostly end up becoming soul dust, so I checked out the prices of soul dust and used this as a baseline for the price of items I would buy between levels 21-25.

For those of you following along in the Making Gold in WoW at low levels series follow the steps below:

1. Collect your expired auctions and gold from the mailbox.
2. Head back to the Auction House and buy up more items to disenchant.
3. Check your enchanting skill level to see if you can move up to levels 21-25.  If so buy more items
4. Disenchant items
5. List on the AH (remember to compare prices)
6. Wait for auctions to sell.

The next day when I went to pick up my left over auctions, adn gold I was surprised to see that not many of my auctions had sold.  This weekend was really busy and there were a lot of mats for sale, and it seems that not many people were buying.

However I still managed to end up with 9 gold in my account, and have a ton of mats left over to put on auction.

Next on my mission to make more gold, I had to go sepnd more gold.  As in the real world, the best way to make gold in WoW is to spend gold.  The World of Warcraft economy is very similar to the real world.  This is what makes it pretty easy to find tons of ways to make gold in WoW.

When I arrived at the Auction House I followed the same method that I had laid out in the previous step.  Price out the Strange Dust, and buy level 1-15 greens that can be disenchanted.  The were not too many low priced greens to choose from when I hunted through the AH this time thorough.  I did however noticed that my skill in enchanting had increased to beyond 25.  This means that I can now disenchant items up to level 20.  I adjustesd my search and found a few more items that I could disenchant.  I followed my usual process and purchased all I could until there were no more decent priced greens, disenchanted them all, and then relisted the mats on the AH.

If you are following this “Make Gold in WoW” series than follow the steps below:

  1. Pick up your expired auctions and gold at the mailbox
  2. Check to see if you skill in enchanting is over 25
  3. Head to the AH and search level 1-20 greens (or 1-15 if you enchanting skill is not yet 25)
  4. Pick up your purchases for the mailbox
  5. Disenchant everything
  6. List all of your new mats.  Remember to review your competitors prices.

One thing I like to do is price my auction a the same buyout price as my competition, and then price the bid price a little lower than my competitors bid price.  This way when the items are listed by lowest to highest price your will appear first even though it is the same price as your competition.

Series 1: Low Level Gold in WoW, Part 3

makinggoldinwow 1 3 300x200 Series 1: Low Level Gold in WoW, Part 3This is part 3 of “Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels”, if you need to start form the beginning please head to Series 1 of “Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels”

In the last step I was working on getting a bit more start up cash by selling a few limited supply recipes. Now that I have sold the recipes as per the instructions in the previous steps I now have 9 gold. It’s time to get started making some decent gold in WoW.

After I picked up the auction sales from the mail boxes, I headed to see Godan (53.38) in an attempt to learn Enchanting. I got there and realized that you need to be level 5 to learn enchanting. I had never paid attention to that before. So now I have to head back to the Valley of Trials and quest until I am level 5.

I used my hearthstone and return to the Valley of Trials. I opened up Joana’s Horde Leveling Mod that I had installed and followed the steps towards level 5.   It only took me about half an hour. A small detour and a lesson learned. For those of you that are following in my footsteps to making gold in WoW, I suggest that you do this leveling part while you are waiting for your Recipe: Rage Potions to sell.

Once I was done leveling I headed back to Orgrimmar and met up with Godan again. This time I around I learned Enchanting. The only reason I need this skill is because of the disenchanting.

Now it was time to go the the Auction House to start some serious “City Gold Farming.”

When I got the auction house I did a search for Strange Dust to see what the average selling price was. If you have the Auction Add on installed this becomes really easy. The reason why we use Strange Dust as a baseline is because at this level the minimum mats a green item will disenchant to is 1 Strange Dust. The stacks of 20 were selling for 6 gold a piece which put the average price of a single strange dust at 30 silver. I then did a search for level 0-15 uncommon weapons and purchased every item that could be disenchanted that was 30 silver or less. I did the same thing with the armour. In the end I had spent over 7 gold on green items After buying up everything I went to the mail box to pick up my purchases.

It was time to disenchant.

It took me a few minutes to disenchant everything but in the end I had 26 Strange Dust, 14 Lesser Magic Essence and 5 Greater Magic Essence. I went back to the Auction House and did a price comparison on all of the auctions, and began listing. I priced the stack of 20 Strange Dust at 10 gold (the closest competitor was pricing stacks at 6 gold. That’s right, I priced over instead of undercutting), and the singles at 89 silver each. The Lesser Magic Essence at 5 gold for 10, and the singles at 1 gold. The Greater Magic Essences I price at a gold a piece as well.

I then logged out and began waiting for the sales.

If you are following my method to making gold in WoW then use the steps below to recreate my gold farming strategy:

1. Pick up your auctions from the mail box
2. Go level until you hit level 5 (if you need a leveling guide I suggest the Warcraft Formula as it covers leveling, gold making, PvP etc.)
3. Once at level 5 return to Orgrimar and see Godan (53.38) and learn enchanting.
4. Head to the Auction House and review the prices of Strange Dust to find the average selling price.
5. Set the search to level 0-15, uncommon items and search both weapons and armour and purchase as much as you can.
6. Go to the mailbox and pickup your items.
7. Disenchant everything.
8. Go back to the Auction House and list all of the mats you received from disenchanting. Try not to undercut the prices, as these items usually sell fast (especially on the weekends). If anything price over your competitors using my AH pricing strategy.
9. Wait a 24 hours for the auctions to sell

Once your auctions have sold continue on to part 4of the WoW gold farming series:  Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels

This is part 2 of  “Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels”, if you need to start form the beginning please head to Series 1 of  “Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels”

Previously I had posted the auction for the Recipe: Rage Potion at 3 gold.  My goal was to price this item to sell quickly, and even though the competing auction was way overpriced at 29 gold I figured that 3 gold will sell quickly.

I was wrong.

So I cancelled the auction and reposted it at 75 silver.  It sold very quickly after that.  Keep in mind that at this point it isn’t about making a ton of gold, we just need a little bit to get us going.  After the Auction House fees I ended up with at total of 72 silver 32 copper.

Next I headed off to the Cleft of Shadow to see Hagrus again.  This time I wanted the Recipe: Great Rage Potion, which is being sold for 19 silver (this is why in part 1 I said not to price the Recipe: Rage Potion at less than 25 silver).  while I was there I deciced to also purchase 2 more of the Recipe: Rage Potions.

With my new inventory in hand I headed off to the Auction House. I did a search to see if I had any competition for the recipe, and thankfully I didn’t.  Because of this I could really price the auction at whatever I wanted.  Of course I have to take into account that someone could under cut me, or the players looking for this recipe would not be able to afford a high price.  I decided to price the auction at 5 gold.  This seemed like a pretty decent price as Orgrimmar was crazy busy, and the AH was filled with people. I anticipate a quick sell.  I also posted the other two recipes that I picked up for 2 gold each.

Now all I have to do is sit and wait for this round of auctions to sell.

Here are the steps you need to follow if you are taking the 100 gold journey with me:

  1. Pick up your silver from the mailbox(provided the auction sold).  If the auction did not sell review the competing prices and repost.
  2. Go to Cleft of Shadow (46.46)
  3. Purchase Recipe: Great Rage Potion. If you have money left over purchase the other recipes as well
  4. Run to the AH
  5. Check the competition and post the recipes.  Our goal here is to have at least 3 gold when all these recipes have been sold.
  6. Wait for the auctions to sell

Once your auctions have sold continue on to part 3 of the WoW gold farming series:  Making Gold at Low Levels

Series 1: Low Level Gold in WoW, Part 1

makinggoldinwow 1 1 300x188 Series 1: Low Level Gold in WoW, Part 1

On Day 1 of “Making Gold in WoW at Low Levels” I decided to start very simply.  To get started I needed to raise a bit of capital to start my journey to making 100 gold with a low level character.  To start off I created an Orc warrior named Kamulnnd (yes I used the random name generator, its late and I am really tired).   You can see the screen shot above of my new character and his complete lack of cash!

The exact amount of capitol I will need to begin my journey is: 1 silver and 7 copper.  In order to get the silver I did a bit of grinding. I killed and looted 20 Mottled Boars.  Once I sold all the trash that I looted, I had a total of 1 silver and 39 gold, which was more than enough start up cash.

The next step was to run  to Orgrimmar.  I stuck to the road and did not fight anything along as I would most likely get me ass handed to me.  Besides we are here to make some gold, not fight.  We’ll do the fighting once we have a ton of gold.  Once I got to Orgrimmar, I ran to the Cleft of Shadow and spoke with Hagrus (46.46).  From here I purchased the limited supply item Recipe: Rage Potion. Then I ran to  the auction house.

At the AH I did a search for Recipe: Rage Potion to see what others were selling this item for.  Normally, I suggest that you do not undercut your competition as you can usually sell items quite well without undercutting, but in this case I just needed to increase my equity by a few more silvers.  I priced the recipe so that it would sell quickly.    I priced mine for 3 gold because someone else was selling the recipe for 29 gold.  I could have price it much higher, but I am  looking for a quick sale here.

If you are following along and trying to make 100 gold with low level character then here are the steps to follow:

  1. Kill 20 Mottled Boars and loot them all.
  2. Sell all looted items ( you should have over 1 silver 7 copper.  If not, grind a bit more)
  3. Run north to Orgrimarr staying on the main road
  4. Once at Orgrimarr run to Cleft of Shadow (46.46)
  5. Purchase Recipe:Rage Potion from Hagrus
  6. Run to the AH
  7. Post the Recipe.  Do not sell it for under 25 silver, as you will need at least that much for the next step.
  8. Wait for it to sell

Once your auction has sold continue onto part 2 of my making Gold in WoW series

WoW Gold Farming…From Other Players!!!

I’ve heard of this WoW Gold farming strategy before (well I wouldn’t really call it a WoW gold farming strategy but…) and have heard that it can be extremely effective. Some people may not be cut out for it because it involves profiting from other unsuspecting World of Warcraft players. If you have lower than average morals, prepare to make some profit! For this to work you are going to need to use two characters that are on the same realm.

.

.

  1. Find a decent priced rare item in the Auction House. Make sure that there are no other auctions of that same item at this time.
  2. Purchase the item and then relist it for a much higher price.
  3. Then log in on the other character and place an ad in the trade channel that says: “WTB <insert item the you originally purchased> for <enter much higher price than what you listed it on the AH for>”
  4. Now wait for a few moments for someone to check out the AH and realize that the item you mentioned in the trade channel is on the AH, and that they could make profit by buying it from the AH and selling it to you. They will then contact you.
  5. Once a deal has been struck arrange a meeting place to make the trade.
  6. Once you meet up and open the trade window you can confirm that they have the item. Now say something to the player like: “Hold on just a minute I need to transfer some gold to this character brb”
  7. Then log out and check your other character to see if the auction had sold

As you can see you are scamming someone that was planning on scamming you. They could have easily sent you a tell that mentioned that the item you are looking for is in the AH for cheaper than what you are asking. Well this is how I justify WoW gold farming from other players. Give it a try. I would start with low priced items to start and then work your way up.

WoW Gold Farming for the Big Iron Fishing Pole

inv fishingpole 01 WoW Gold Farming for the Big Iron Fishing Pole

A great item to go and do some WoW gold farming for is the Big Iron Fishing Pole. This item usually sells on the Auction House for around 32 gold.

In order to get this item head to the Shadowprey Village in Desolace. It is a Horde controlled village,so you Alliance that want to do this must be careful. Once you make it to the village (or near the village) head out into the water and head west. It is best to bring along a few Water Breathing Potions. Just west of the docks you will be a bunch of submerged cages scattered throughout the seabed. In order to find the Big Iron Fishing Pole you will need to open these cages. The cages will normally spawn a level 33-34 mob, but once in a while they drop the Big Iron Fishing Pole. I figure you could probably make a solid 3-4 gold and hour in this location with all of the other drops of vendor trash and possible green items.

This spot can be a tedious place to do some WoW gold farming if you play on a crowded server, but can be very rewarding if you give it a try.

WoW Gold Farming Alert: Blizzard Put a Limit on the Amount of Gold You Can Have

Recently I found a site that kind of shocked me and presented something I didn’t really even think of. In all my time WoW Gold farming I never would have thought of this- Not in a million years.

Blizzard has placed a cap on the amount of gold a single character can have.

Apparently it has something to do with the programming of the game. What really shocked me more than this gold limit was that someone actually made enough gold to see what this limit was. I am surprised that the Chinese WoW Gold Farming community hasn’t found or exposed this yet. So anyways I found on this site, The Warcraft Millionaire a video that shows the guy who has reached the gold cap of:214,748 gold, 36 silver, 48 copper. I am still not sure why this cap happens, or why the programming would allow this. It might say more on the site, but I was too dumbfounded by the video that shows all this gold.

I have seen a lot of gold before. I do a lot of WoW Gold farming, but I have never seen anything like this before. It is absolutley mind boggling.
